Egelsbach Airport announces management change

Changes match specialised experience with airport strategic needs

07. July 2009, HFG, Germany

Following the Hessische Flugplatz GmbH (HFG) shareholder and advisory council meetings on the 25th of June 2009, HFG is pleased to announce organisational changes that will better enable Egelsbach airport to deliver on promises made during the share sale process.

Mr. Peter Lehmann, Egelsbach airport's General Manager for over 15 years, has signed a consultancy contract with Netjets and entered into a long-term agreement to manage airport sales . HFG Director Scott Forbes said, „Peter has an enviable understanding of the business aviation market. Airport sales are the engine of growth for an airport and require dedicated focus while important operational and infrastructure projects are simultaneously undertaken. While Peter can be proud of his past achievements at Egelsbach airport, we are delighted that we will be able to leverage Peter's sales strengths, considerable experience and aviation network.”

Replacing Mr. Lehmann as Egelsbach Airport General Manager is Siegmar Weegen. Mr Weegen looks back on 20 years aviation experience, he worked on several national and international airport projects, and for many years he was in a leading position at Hamburg Airport. Mr Weegen was introduced to Egelsbach airport during the share sale process where he played a vital role as part of the Dornier Consulting Group engagement team. Comments Forbes, „We were most impressed with Siegmar and the Dornier team's performance while evaluating airport operations and during air space planning workshops. Siegmar is a proven performer and his leadership and technical expertise will be invaluable as HFG pursues operational excellence. Siegmar has also demonstrated a clear commitment to ensure that HFG is a good neighbour with the surrounding communities.”

HFG also reports it is satisfied with the significant progress made at the airport. Weegen said, „The management team and staff have addressed priority projects such as apron repair, noise monitoring equipment, world class air safety procedures as well as communications with surrounding communities through the website, hotline and advisory council member meetings. We are underway with a seven figure airport programme including the apron resurfacing. While there is much to do, I am delighted to have the support of such a strong team.”

Siegmar and the HFG team will relocate to the Airbos building at Egelsbach airport later this month, air traffic control and tower will stay in remaining building.
